FLAG BOAT

An open boat equipped with a good operating marine radio, with a driver and a flagman and (if available) an assistant.

In addition to the flag operation they are the main observers and referees of each race, and have the final say in the event of a close finish.

They will also provide emergency assistance to boat drivers, or co-pilots in the event of an accident and tow disabled boats back to the dock if it can’t be done by the safety boat.

The boat should not have any covers, canopies, or structures that could block a flag from view by any boat on the course.

The boat will be stationed in the inside safety zone near the start finish buoy.
